“Roseville mattress disposal” and “Roseville mattress recycling” are common searches for a reason: a mattress won’t fit in your cart, and leaving it on the curb isn’t an option. Here are the real options in South Placer County, cheapest first, with sources.
1. Free drop-off at WPWMA in Lincoln (best if you have a truck)
The Western Placer Waste Management Authority (WPWMA) at 3195 Athens Avenue, Lincoln is the regional recycling and disposal facility for Lincoln, Rocklin, Roseville and western Placer County. Since February 1, 2023, it has accepted mattresses and box springs from the public for free through the Mattress Recycling Council’s Bye Bye Mattress program.
- Limit: California residents can drop off up to 4 mattresses and box springs per day for free. Fees apply to businesses.
- Hours: 7 a.m.โ5 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m.โ5 p.m. weekends.
Tip: wrap the mattress in an old sheet or plastic for the drive, and strap it down. Loose mattresses can fly out of truck beds.
2. Rocklin: Recology’s bulky-item drop-off list
Rocklin’s trash service is provided by Recology Auburn Placer. Recology’s bulky items page lists mattresses among the items to drop off at its locations, which include the WPWMA. Call Recology at (530) 885-3735 with questions.
3. Roseville: spring neighborhood clean-ups
Roseville doesn’t run a year-round curbside bulky pickup. Each spring, the City and the Roseville Coalition of Neighborhood Associations (RCONA) host free Neighborhood Clean-Up events for Roseville residents. Check the City’s page for this year’s dates and the list of items they don’t accept. Anything not accepted can go to the WPWMA for a fee.
4. Lincoln: a temporary City bin
Lincoln residents with an active utility account can apply for a temporary 3-yard bin from the City. That’s useful if a mattress is part of a bigger cleanup.
5. Have it picked up (no truck needed)
If you don’t have a truck, can’t lift it, or have other items to go, our junk removal service picks up mattresses with no item-specific surcharge. Jobs are priced by the space your load takes up, with a $150 minimum, and loading is included. A mattress and box spring with a few other pieces is a very normal job for us.
